Sensei Ed Robinson is a Sandan (3rd degree Black Belt) in Shotokan karate, Sensei Ed is the primary instructor at the San Francisco located Shockness Shotokan Karate-Do (www.sfdojo.com), a longtime staple in Bay area martial arts. Sensei Ed has trained with Shihan (Master instructor) Wayne Shockness for over ten years, however he began his Shotokan karate journey in 1989 while attending University of Illinois at Chicago training with Sensei Mahmoud Bambouyani, chief instructor of the International Traditional Karate Association (ITKA).
Sensei Ed has many years of teaching experience, both in Shotokan karate as well as during his time as a Non-Deadly Force instructor for agencies within the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security. Sensei Ed’s martial arts background also includes many years training in Muay Thai.
In total, Sensei Ed has over 30 years in martial arts experience. Sensei Ed has been noted for his patient and enthusiastic teaching style, particularly with new and/or younger students.
Sensei Ed is the sole instructor. As such, students training with Sensei Ed will not have to worry about getting conflicting instructions from one instructor to the next. This allows Sensei Ed to better understand each student and maximize their strengths while minimizing their weaknesses.
Sensei Ed maintains affiliations with World Traditional Karate Organization and Shotokan International.
